Adding people to a late software project makes it later.

Winning the high jump requires one person who can jump seven feet, not seven people who can jump one foot.

Talent for talent’s sake is a bauble and a show. Talent working with joy in the cause of universal truth lifts the possessor to a new power as a benefactor. – Philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The toughest thing about success is that you’ve got to keep on being a success. Talent is only a starting point in business. You’ve got to keep working that talent.” – Irving Berlin

“No matter the size of the bottle, the cream always rises to the top.” – Novelist Charles Wilson

“Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.” -Stephen King

Talent is a God-given gift that should be celebrated. When we observe talented people:

We Should Marvel at Their Giftedness

We Should Recognize Their Contribution to Society

We Should Separate What They Can Do from Who They Are

JOHN MAXWELL’S BELIEFS

Everyone Has Talent

Develop the Talent You Have, Not the One You Want

Anyone Can Make Choices That Will Add Value to Talent

“Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.”

I’ve discovered thirteen key choices that can be made to maximize any person’s talent:

Belief lifts your talent.

Passion energizes your talent.

Initiative activates your talent.

Focus directs your talent.

Preparation positions your talent.

Practice sharpens your talent.

Perseverance sustains your talent.

Courage tests your talent.

Teachability expands your talent.

Character protects your talent.

Relationships influence your talent.

Responsibility strengthens your talent.

Teamwork multiplies your talent.

Make these choices, and you can become a talent-plus person. If you have talent, you stand alone. If you have talent plus, you stand out.

Life is a matter of choices, and every choice you make makes you.

Disclaimer: I’ve taken these lines from John Maxwell’s book, Talent Is Never Enough. I posted them in my blog to share it with others and may they learn from these. If you haven’t read it, I suggest you do so. It’s one of the books really worth reading.

Thank you for your replies and comments on my previous post, guys. They really help. :P

A friend of mine invited me for an internship for a certain company. I would have loved to try and apply there, but if I get accepted and start my training this semester would make me crazy. I mean, literally crazy. I already have lots of schoolwork to do, plus I joined the PhilNits review and the exam would be on April, which means I have an extra stuff to study so I can be prepared. I doubt though if I’d take this exam seriously since I was just joining because my classmates were coaxing me. LOL. I thought it would be fun to experience it too. But yeah, it’s another load on my plate and adding one more would be the end of me.

I finished watching Boys Over Flowers last year, and ABS-CBN has it up again, along with their not-so-funny-but-it-seems-so-to-me dubbing and my grandmother is watching it. Bwahahaha. And everytime I go to her room, she’d rant about it and keep saying how bad she feels for Ji Hoo, who loves the female lead. He won’t get the girl but he’s done all he can for her. Anyway, I still love Ji Hoo. :P Well, if only he is real and knows that I exist… *faints*

I’ve downloaded lots of movies last week and haven’t watched them yet. I will definitely watch them this week. AJA! My priority though is Lovely Bones and Dorian Gray. Watch them guys, if you haven’t.

Our Networking teacher just informed us of our grades. Oh, well… I passed! Haha. Thank goodness! XD We had this 10-point essay and I sort of just rambling there, only writing three lines. I barely understood what I wrote and depended on my luck, but I got a 10. Haha. My friends were complaining since they wrote long ones and got a 3 instead. LOL. XD I am still very worried of my Computer Organization subject. Darn, I’m so bad at it! Hope I pass. But I feel like Hope is deserting me.

Wish me luck!

I really had fun today, not because we had a very long test in our Math subject, but because we played DoTA in an internet cafe with my friends which we hadn’t done for a long time since the start of classes. Yup, we’ve been busy like that and we just got the time to play because our instructor was absent. XD I think I have improved a bit. I was able to kill one of our classmates who was really good at killing us. Yes, I spawned him!! Muahaha! We played for like three hours, got a headache and almost got late for our last subject. :P

I wouldn’t have realized the date if it wasn’t for the test. Well, it’s the famous Harry Potter actor’s birthday today! Happy 20th birthday, Daniel Radcliffe! I used to squee when I was young everytime I see his pictures; he just looked so cute I couldn’t resist it. :D Speaking of Harry Potter, I had watched it last weekend along with my friends. I enjoyed the movie, but if I were to compare it to the movie, I’d feel disappointed. It feels like there were more love scenes than about Voldy’s past and the Horcruxes and I hadn’t even seen the White Tomb in the movie, which is something I really expected. *cries* But anyway, it was a good film! There are just things that weren’t stressed out when they should be. Just my two cents!

They don’t teach you how to know what’s going on in someone else’s mind. They don’t teach you what to say to someone who’s dying. They don’t teach you anything worth knowing.”

“You know when I said I knew little about love? That wasn’t true. I know a lot about love. I’ve seen it, centuries and centuries of it, and it was the only thing that made watching your world bearable. All those wars. Pain, lies, hate… It made me want to turn away and never look down again. But when I see the way that mankind loves… You could search to the furthest reaches of the universe and never find anything more beautiful. So yes, I know that love is unconditional. But I also know that it can be unpredictable, unexpected, uncontrollable, unbearable and strangely easy to mistake for loathing, and… What I’m trying to say, Tristan is… I think I love you. Is this love, Tristan? I never imagined I’d know it for myself. My heart… It feels like my chest can barely contain it. Like it’s trying to escape because it doesn’t belong to me any more. It belongs to you. And if you wanted it, I’d wish for nothing in exchange – no fits. No goods. No demonstrations of devotion. Nothing but knowing you loved me too. Just your heart, in exchange for mine.”
~Yvaine

“You seriously think I could kill anybody? Even if I could, I mean, everlasting life? I imagine it would be kind of lonely. Well, maybe if you had someone to share it with. Someone you loved. Then it might be different.”
~Tristan

“The burning golden heart of a star at peace is sooo much better than your frightened little heart. All the same, better than no heart at all.”
~Yvaine

“What do stars do? … Shine!
~Yvaine

“No star can shine with a broken heart.
~Yvaine

“A philosopher once asked, “Are we human because we gaze at the stars or do we gaze at the stars because we are human?” Pointless really. Do the stars gaze back? Now that’s a question.”

“They ruled for 80 years. But no man can live forever, except he who possesses the heart of a star, and Yvaine gave hers to Tristan completely. When their children and grandchildren were grown, it was time to light the Babylon Candle… and they still live happily ever after.”
