Smooth Borders
We’ll be making this from this. Looks pretty simple, right? Well, it is.
For this tutorial, we’ll be using my sunset picture. But you can use any if you like.
- Open a new document with a size of 800 x 600.
- Create a new layer, and paste the picture. Obviously the layer with the picture is the one on top.
- Using the magic wand tool, select the blank areas of the picture. It will look like this.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + I. This will invert the selection. Then go to Select >> Modify >> Smooth. Enter the number of pixels. The larger the value, curvier the selection will be. I entered 20 pixels for this one.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + I again and press Ctrl + X. This will delete the selected portion.
- Crop the picture and save it as a .png file if you want the background to be transparent. However if you want a colored background, just fill the bottom layer with any color you want.
Here’s my result. I hope you learned something from this tutorial. ^.^
